Artist's Comments

First time trying to add poetry to a background that I created, so I hope it is readable.

Thanks for reading :)

This was written for a literary contest on Valentines day. Quite a few of the words (20) were pre-chosen and included in the rules. It would be great to have a contest like that here :) Maybe I'll host one in the winter ;)

For those that have trouble, I hope this is much easier on the eyes :):

Mystic Kiss

Her captivating smile
His magic so immense
Sparkling stars that flickered
With romantic decadence

Cuddled close along the cliff side
Gazing out among the mist
A feeling deep within them
That they could not resist

But, that moment when their lips touched
The wind began to blow
And the fervent fires raging
Sparked a sudden molten glow

The darkened sky grew cloudy
As arms clutched each other close
The madness of the moment
Took over like a ghost

Flowers shivered in the distance
From the wind upon the sea
While sand along the shoreline
Blew up dust that swirled free

A full moon now hidden
As thunder echoed on
Their hands began a motion
And skin began to warm

Hearts beating like a drummer
In an ancient beveled beat
As steam began to gather
And sizzled into heat

A churning twisting circle
Swept two lovers so insane
Hot burning embers cooling
With the first frigid drops of rain

And they parted at that moment
Eyes wide open with surprise
As they watched red lightning crackle
Like a devil in disguise

The rain began to pour buckets
Drenching everything in sight
With no signs of ever clearing
On this mystic summer night

They heaved in ragged shallow breaths
As if enduring suffered pain
But gazed into each other’s eyes
And touched their lips again
